NRC – Maaike van Haaster
The flow of news today is more overwhelming than ever. With its new campaign, NRC aims to show the impact of this constant flood of information. A social experiment was set up in which ordinary people were exposed to an unrelenting stream of news clips, stimuli and headlines. Their genuine, unfiltered reactions became the foundation of the campaign film and photography.
For this project, photographer Maaike van Haaster created a powerful portrait series. Her photography captures both the raw emotions of being overwhelmed by news, as well as the calm and reassurance that NRC seeks to provide through facts, depth and nuance.
